When a Book Feels Wrong
You finish one page and hate it. Do you keep reading or put it down?
Imagine you are at a café with a friend. You open a book and read three pages, but the story feels flat and slow. Your friend says they should keep going anyway because you bought it on sale. Now what do you do?
Some people love finishing a story they started, even if it is not good. They feel unhappy when the pages are left on a table at home. It feels like a waste of time and money, so they force themselves to turn more pages until the end.
Other people prefer stopping a book as soon as it gets boring. They think reading should be fun, not a job you must finish. If the book does not make them smile, they put it in a bag and buy something else instead.
It is also possible to read the book with your eyes, but not in your heart. You can know what happens next without feeling any joy or sadness while doing so. This way, you get the knowledge but do not feel the pain of a bad story.
The choice is yours, and there is no single right answer for everyone. Some days you may want to finish it, but other days you will simply close the cover and move on.
